Paul used to wear eyeliner but stopped because he got bored wearing it. This particular look was just a phase he was going through. Angela a punk from Dublin wears makeup because she likes the colours and it makes her look good, I look rotten without it. She has male friends who wear a lot of makeup and approves wholeheartedly, I think fellas look great wearing makeup. Another punk, Gipo, chooses not to wear makeup because, It’s what a person is inside them, not the way he looks or anything, I don’t think makeup’s that important at all. Bronagh disapproves of men wearing makeup, I think makeup is a characteristic of a woman and I think it should stay that way. When pushed to further elaborate on this comment, she adds, It has always been that way. Niamh disagrees, pointing out makeup for men was fashionable among kings and courtiers in 18th century France. She thinks men should be able to wear makeup without fear of discrimination. She also thinks woman wear makeup because they feel pressured to look a certain way. This pressure comes from advertising and from American television programmes like ’Dallas’ and ’Dynasty’. Emily reminds people buying cosmetics to only purchase products that have not been tested on animals. ′Borderline′ was a Saturday morning teenage programme that covered music, fashion and film.
