Is Blocking an Attack with Your Katana Realistic? #Shorts

In any ryuha style of martial arts using the katana, we practice techniques where we block attacks with our swords. But I often get questions asking, wouldn’t this damage the sword? The answer is simple… Yes it will. But my question to you is, in an emergency situation of life or death, which is more important, your own life or your sword? The samurai in the past asked this question to themselves too, and that’s why they trained various skills on how to block attacks with their katana. However, please keep in mind that you should not block with the sharp edge. If your enemy’s katana had better steel, there’s a chance yours will be chopped in half. You control the katana in your palm so that you use the side (shinogi) of the katana, which of course takes time to master.
