French diver slips on diving board at Olympic inauguration ceremony attended by Emmanuel Macron

French Olympian Alexis Jandard saw his feet fly out from under him as he fell on his backside in front of the huge crowd - including president Emmanuel Macron - as they opened the £154million (€180m) purpose-built venue. The 26-year-old diver was wearing Speedos in the colours of the French flag as he lined up to somersault into the pool alongside two other athletes as part of the celebrations.
