Full title reads: “Six hours leave. Manchester Regt. en route for Egypt greet wives and sweethearts at Southampton“. Southampton, Hampshire. Manchester Regiment returns from Bermuda, only to be sent to Egypt 6 hours later. Loved ones are brought down from Lancashire in special train. Various shots of soldiers from Manchester Regiment of British Army coming down gang plank of troop carrier ship. Various shots of soldiers kissing wives and girl friends, and greeting other family members on quayside. More shots of soldiers coming down gang plank - some have wives and children with them. One soldier’s family has brought him a birthday cake. Various shots of soldiers and families sitting down at long tables for massive tea party.
