Item title reads: “The American Varsity Boat Race. In which 7 crews compete and spectators follow race in special trains - won by Columbia.“ Puughkeepsie, New York, United States of America (USA). A line of rowing eights are seen side on at the start of a race. They pull away hard. The camera follows the race, and spectators watch from the riverbank. M/S of a set of three open sided railway carriages, which have been converted as tiered seating, so that the spectators can follow the race, whilst on board a train., like a moving stadium. The train passes by. Next, the race is viewed from the moving train, as the rowers pass through large bridge arches. Finally the race is seen from high up on the bridge, as the rowing boats pass at speed below. Note: Great and inventive idea to have a train as a mobile stadium alongside the water.
