Note: I have noticed one typo, resulting in misinformation, in the video since publishing in the vid, I typed describing a previous PR, it should actually read . I believe was that season’s previous SB. This is a video presentation of my views of the “sprint cycle“, and how I interpret some other coaches’ views on the subject. I’ve included some concepts, cues, and one “trick“ that I’ve used successfully in my own coaching. This presentation might be a little bit more geared towards coaches, but there are at least some good visuals for the athlete to incorporate into their own visualizations of their event execution. These sprint concepts are the foundation to all sound jumping techniques, as common cues such as “run off the board“ in the horizontal jumps can not actually be executed properly unless a sound sprint mechanic precedes the jump. These principals are important for all jumpers, even HJers and pole vaulters, as dropping a pole and increasing the weight in the bottom hand pulls the vaulters COG forward and tries to push their legs into the “back-side“ of the sprint cycle at the most important point of the approach. Hope you enjoy.
