One of the most beautiful ABBA solo songs ever sung
“Sovrum“ is a song from Anni-Frid Lyngstad’s 1996 Swedish language solo album Djupa Andetag (Deep Breaths), which was recorded when she was fifty years old. The title translates to “bedroom“. Despite the name, the song is not raunchy; it is a sweet ballad that describes the female narrator’s desire to be a source of comfort for her partner.
Djupa Andetag was Frida’s big comeback and was released ten years after the Shine album. She was strongly encouraged to record again by her husband Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss, whom she had been with since 1986. The album is themed around love and nature, and Frida was praised for her relaxed and “low wattage“ vocals, as well as for her choice of songs. Anders Glenmark of Gemini served as producer and penned many of them songs himself.
A planned follow-up to Djupa Andetag was shelved after a series of personal tragedies in Frida’s life. Her daughter Liselott died in a car accident in 1998, and her husband Ruzzo died of
