Dance Doings (1931)

“To really enjoy the dance “doings“ in this picture you need youth and pep -“ C/U of a woman in a clown or pierrot costume. She smiles at the camera and takes a bow. L/S of the woman as she performs a dance routine. She does strange acrobatic stuff like jumping up and landing on her knees. She does the splits in a Cossack style. Lots of high kicks. It is a very fast, rather bizarre looking routine involving lots of gymnastic and acrobatic steps. The dancer’s name is Mahala and we see her routine in slow motion. It looks as though she is dancing in the Pathe Studio. “But, the real dance “doings’ commenced when our new stop-camera started!“ Mahala does a hand stand then the film “freezes“ while she is in mid air. She jumps up and the camera freezes again. Was an item in Eve’s Film Review issue number 500. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
