Hearts - Marty Balin (Jeff McNeal vocal tribute cover)

Los Angeles voice actor, impressionist and front man for the classic rock band Mrs. Jones’ Revenge, Jeff McNeal pays tribute to one of the most unique and soulful voices of the mid to late 20th Century. Marty Balin was a unique talent and made incredible hits with The Jefferson Airplane, later with the Jefferson Starship and finally as a solo artist. This is probably my favorite song of his, from 1981. It’s sad and beautiful. On a very personal note, I was in a rough patch with my girlfriend when this song was first released in 1981. We were at a very pivotal point in our relationship and it could have gone either way. I listened to “Hearts“ and took it to heart. I realized that I did not want to be the guy in this song... Filled with regret and sadness over a love that had gone wrong. Two years later, I married my girlfriend and we’re still together over 40 years after we first met, having a raised a beautiful family together, and recently welcomed our first two grandchildren to the party. Thanks for making me think long and hard about what the important things are in life with your beautiful, heartfelt performance of this song, Mr. Balin. ., Marty... and thank you.
