Vivaldi: Concerto for 2 Violins in C major | Nigel Kennedy & the Polish Chamber Orchestra
Antonio Vivaldi wrote nearly 500 concertos for the violin as a solo instrument. Of all of these, 241 have been preserved. At this 2005 concert at the Cité de Carcassonne in France, Nigel Kennedy and the Polish Chamber Orchestra performed Vivaldi’s Concerto for two violins in C Major, RV 507. The concert master and first violinist was Jakub Haufa.
Nigel Kennedy was born on December 28, 1956 in the southern seaside English city of Brighton. His father and grandfather were classical cellists, while his mother and grandmother were pianists. At age seven, he won a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School for musically gifted children where he became the youngest and most famous protege of the renowned violinist.
His first record release, a performance of the Cello Concerto by British composer Edward Elgar, was declared the 1985 Best Classical Album of the Year by Gramophone magazine. Kennedy’s rendition of Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons“ came four years later. Selling ove
