David the Shepherd - Shepherd Slings Demonstration

There are 3 basic ways to throw with a shepherd sling: 1. Underhand “Beginner“ Throw Place the end with the loop around your finger and hold the knotted end between your thumb and index finger. Put an object (I like to throw marshmallows) securely in the pouch. Take aim and make sure that it’s safe to throw. Swing the sling three times underhand, let go of the knotted end, and enjoy slinging. 2. Overhead Throw Some people call this the helicopter throw. It’s very similar to the underhand throw, but instead you simply swing it above your head. Watch for people around you! 3. Overhand Throw This is sometimes called the figure 8 throw. Instead of swinging it three times around, you drop it behind your head and then release over the top.
