POV: You don’t look like you’re from your country #shorts

Even locals don’t believe me :“) True story. Dubai Airport, January 2021. ✈️ She was an Indonesian migrant worker (TKI) in Dubai and I wanted to speak Indonesian with her because she was struggling with English and had a really thick Javanese accent. I mean, I was already using casual Indonesian with slang words and not formal Indonesian but she was still in deep shock when I revealed I was a local 🙈 But after helping her with the wifi login I had a nice conversation with her and all is well 😌 Some sources say there are about 7.2 million ethnically Chinese Indonesians. But out of 270 million ’s not a big amount 😬 I personally don’t have family in China. My grandparents were all born in Indonesia (Medan, Palembang). 🇮🇩 So uhh, yeah, when international people don’t believe that I’m Indonesian is one thing.
