The Serpent’s Dance - Drawing your Dragon Ally through Darkness and Light

This free three-hour-long workshop is designed to give you a taste of the three-week Summer Seminar held from July 13th - August 4th 2024 at Torri Superiore, Italy. The video ends with a brief studio tour from the teachers - Stefan Lucas Allen, Florence Ménard Cuepaliztl and Laurence Caruana. All levels welcome! Visit: Join us for three thematically-related workshops, moving from the fundamentals of composition to envisioning your spirit ally and then depicting it in a finished drawing. To begin, Laurence Caruana will lead you through the harmonics of space, using free-hand geometry to determine selective points in your composition. In a playful way, we’ll pursue the division of space into light and dark domains. Next, Florence Ménard Cuepaliztl will guide you on a vision journey through the shadow realms, seeking out your serpentine ally who will ultimately lead you back to the light. With that image in mind, Stefan Lucas Allen will show you how to render your spirit guide, weaving its sinuous figure in and out of the darkness while wrapping itself round harmonious points in the composition.
