Coiling Dragon. Ba GuaPalms

A very different version of BaGua. Dragon Claws are the hand formations. Each circle ends with a kick before walking resumes. Steps are slow, sunken and almost ponderous. The movements within the palm changes show Sun’s characteristic fluidity which is in sharp contrast to his lock legged, rear out, and almost labored walking. Definitely another view of the subject. Here is a style that combines “Internal“ arts such as BaGua with “external“ such as Shaolin. Coiling Dragon emphasizes flexibility and elongated muscles. The movements combine the powerful and the loose with an unusual harmony and balance. Not a lot of sets but each one significant. Demonstrator: Sun Xiang is a direct disciple in the Sun family of their Coiling Dragon inheritance. He is the official coach of the China Police University and his moves show a non-nonsense attitude. He is quite limber and in excellent condition for his age. #chinesemartialarts #kungfu #wushu
