How Rembrandt Made His Prints: A Demonstration | Christie’s Inc

Watch a step-by-step demonstration of how Rembrandt made his prints, filmed at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam, the very place where Rembrandt actually carried out his printmaking. Christie’s prints specialist Tim Schmelcher is given an expert tutorial of the entire printmaking process as he discovers more about Rembrandt’s life and work in the run up to the sale of The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn on the evening of December 7 at Christie’s London. Highlights include a striking self-portrait of the artist, a rare still-life of a shell — Conus Marmoreus — and a serene depiction of St Jerome in an Italian landscape. Additional works, which include the biblical depictions of Christ presented to the People (‘Ecce Homo’) and Christ crucified between two Thieves: ‘The Three Crosses’ will feature in Old Masters Part I, also on 7 December. https://www
