Trends in Excess Deaths Westminster Hall Debate

Here is my speech and the Minister’s response in this historic debate... On Tuesday 16th January 2024 I secured an historic debate in Westminster Hall to discuss the vitally important subject of Trends in Excess Deaths. This debate highlighted many important points including the failure of the Covid Inquiry, the state of the National Health Service, the impact of lockdowns on our young people, the incredible backlogs for diagnosis of life threatening diseases and illnesses such as cancer and heart problems as well as many more subjects. In October last year, I facilitated an Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons chamber with the same title ‘Trends in Excess Deaths’, this had a huge amount of support from the public and the public gallery of the House of Commons was full. This debate which was held in Westminster Hall this week was attended by more than 25 members and most members weren’t able to make all of their points due to the 90 minute time constraints. Therefore, I feel it is only right due to the popularity of the debate that we have a three hour Backbench Business Debate in the House of Commons.
