Turbonegro Live In Melbourne 2012 High Quality

#Turbonegro Let’s start at the only had the good fortune to discover @TurbonegroHQ back in 2004, about ten years too late and a month after they had at that point played their only ever show in Melbourne Australia, so i had to wait 8 years for them to return, when they announced a handful of shows for Australia in 2012 i like a lot of other people lost my mind with excitement!! From that moment i thought “i have to record this show“ if not for everyone else, at least for me haha! Anyway, 6 months out from the gig i started writing emails to Turbo to ask permission, after many attempts to make contact i had no luck. Understandable, they’re busy! So i asked my President of Turbojugend Melbourne, Janne V “El Comandante“ if he could make contact and ask permission, this is getting to a few days before the show now. Janne made contact, the band said ’yes that’s cool as long as it doesn’t interrupt the show’ so then my heart sank and i thought “Jesus, i am doing it, Holy F&%k, how am i going to pull this together“? So let’s be clear, the band didn’t ask for this and really didn’t know too much about it, it was a last minute thing to try and document this. So i flew my mate Blakey down from Queensland, the tech wizard to help me, we hired some extra gear and the venue put Blakey in a cupboard under the stairwell to record the audio (we missed the first 3 songs and a few other pieces here and there unfortunately but got 17 songs!) and although the Turbo engineer was really kind to us helping us plug in we didn’t really have the opportunity to check the lines we were recording and evidently missed Tom’s vocal mic and we may be missing part of the guitar sound from Rune, not sure if we missed one of his amp mics or what but we did the best with the sound we got. Also, we had a great quality mic on stage to record crowd sound but unfortunately in about the 3rd song of the night someone rushed the stage from the crowd, knocked it over and killed it! The stage roadie kindly put it back up for us but it was dead from the impact! I got some members of the Melbourne Jugend to hold cameras and point them at the stage, i was in the press/security pit shooting close up of the stage, JD a guy doing a doco on the Melbourne visit was shooting from near the stage, Pauline Handsome was in the right of the crowd and Reverse Cowboy was up the back. We also had a gopro on one of the mic stands pointing at the crowd. So for months later i put the pieces together, tried to mix and process the audio the best i could and at the very least have some great archival footage and audio! Anyway, it’s Deathpunk so perfection would be inappropriate!! Thanks to the band for letting us record it. Obviously i don’t own the rights to this music etc, i notice there is a copyright claim and it says “ad revenue paid to copyright owner“ so hopefully some $ may find their way to the band sometime. And due to packing up and getting the gear out of there i MISSED the afterparty and the chance to meet the band, a bit heartbreaking but on the upside i get to watch a large part of the gig over and over for ever!
