Dive 7: March 10, 2016: 2016 Hohonu Moana

An amazing diversity of beautiful and fragile coral and ancient organisms have occupied Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument for hundreds to thousands of years. This footage was captured at a depth of ~2,000 meters, while exploring a ridge extending to the southeast of Castellano Seamount. This seamount had never been previously surveyed and therefore its geology and biological communities were completely unknown. Learn more about the expedition:
