Radio Lifeboat Aka Sea Rescue (1958)

Herne Bay, Kent. M/S of a group of lifeguards on the beach on a training exercise. Arthur Jones, the captain of the team, picks up a rope and ties it round his waist before diving into the sea. M/S of the line of people holding the rope over their heads and the man paying out the rope from the reel. M/S of a lady sat in a deck chair watching, a little girl is sat on her knee. M/S as the men pull the rope back in, M/S of the boy at the reel. M/S as they carry the ’victim’ onto the shore. L/S of the group stood round a small model boat, Colonel H.J. Taplin, the inventor, is crouching down demonstrating it. Various shots as he points out the mechanisms. This is a radio controlled lifeboat which would eliminate the risk to lifeguards. C/U of a young woman watching the demonstration. Colonel Taplin replaces the top of the boat and walks off. L/S of him sat down with the control panel.
