Helicopter technology soars to new heights at expo in east China

Several advanced aircraft engines are on display at the sixth China Helicopter Expo, currently underway in north China’s coastal municipality of Tianjin. A domestically-made turboshaft engine designed to allow a helicopter to operate in harsh environments is stealing the show. With a maximum power of 1,100 kW, the engine is equipped with a game-changing sand filter. Alongside the engines, helicopters powered by liquid hydrogen and others propelled by hybrid-electric propulsion systems are shining at the expo as aerial vehicles dedicated to environmental protection begin to gain market recognition.
