When will the nuclear race end? And what is the #atomic destination of mankind? The answers appear in our #new film, ’Nuclear Watchdogs’.
The nuclear threat is real until all countries ratify* the 1996 UN treaty. Under this document member states pledge not to test atomic #weapons and to monitor the fulfilment of this condition by their treaty partners.
But so far it has never entered into legal force. Why is this? It has been signed by 187 states, including 41 of the necessary 44, with the exception of India, Pakistan and the DPRK. But the main snag is that not all of the signatories have ratified the treaty. Among them are #nuclear powers such as Israel, China and the U.S..
There are 321 nuclear test monitoring stations around the world. Russia has 32 of them, located all over the country. What have they managed to record and why do Russian experts see a threat in the U.S. nuclear policy? Watch the #premiere of ’Nuclear Watchdogs’ to find out.
*Ratification is the process of giving legal force to a document by having it approved by the appropriate authority of each party.
