ITALY - END OF MSI PARTY

(28 Jan 1995) T/I The Italian Social Movement (MSI), a neo-fascist group founded 49 years ago by followers of Benito Mussolini, voted on Friday (27/1) to end its fascist history. At a party congress in the spa town of Fiuggi, near Rome, delegates supported a policy document which called for the end of the MSI. The document also stated that the MSI should give way to the National Alliance, an extreme right-wing group created by Gianfranco Fini in an attempt to obtain electoral success in last year’s elections.
