Der Geher in Hamburg: Eppendorf, UKE

I am Der Geher and I am walking through Eppendorf again. This time the path leads from Eppendorfer Brücke towards Eppendorfer Park. Past the University Hospital Eppendorf, the UKE, the path continues north to the church St. Anshar. The path ends in the green at the Eppendorfer Mühlenteich. Already mentioned in 1140, Eppendorf is the oldest village in Hamburg. There are many traces of early Christianization here. The church of St. Johannis from 1267 or the Cistercian convent from 1247, for example. The village belonged to a Protestant foundation for a long time and came under Hamburg administration in 1832. In 1894, Eppendorf became a Hamburg district. Today, about 24,500 inhabitants live here.
