SINCE I FELL FOR YOU, The Buckeyes, (Rare) (DeLuxe #6110) 1957 Flipside: BY ONLY YOU – Here is another really great cover song from my music collection. The Buckeyes’ roots began in Steubenville, Ohio in 1954. They called themselves The Montereys. After discovering that another vocal group from New York was recording for Teenage Records using the same name, they dropped the name. They then managed to get a recording contract with Atlantic Records as The Hi Fi’s, but that never worked out for them either, so another name change was in order. They were from Ohio, the “Buckeye State”, thus they became The Buckeyes! After driving several hundred miles to New York to meet with the executives of the New York offices of King/Federal/DeLuxe Records, they got an audition and were quickly signed to record. The Buckeyes would have two releases for DeLuxe Records, but not much success - no promotion and support! The Buckeyes would eventually become the Stereos and have a lot more record
