Discourse Analysis Part 2: Foucauldian Approaches

From a lecture given in 2015 by Graham R Gibbs at the University of Huddersfield. This second session examines the ideas behind a Foucauldian Discourse Analysis and draws also on some ideas from Critical Discourse Analysis. The distinctive contributions of Michel Foucault’s approach are discussed before some of the key ways of carrying out a Foucauldian analysis are examined. The session ends with a brief discussion of some of the criticisms of both Foucauldian and Psychological discourse analysis.
