Introductory intertitle reads: “Eyes made to sweep the sky for hostile planes - giant searchlights with millions of candlepower behind them.“ L/S of group of men working to move large searchlights on wheels off a truck. Narrator states that they are the coast artillery, engineers and air corps working together at Fort Humphries (?) Virginia testing the greatest concentration of anti-aircraft searchlight equipment in American history. 15 searchlights are placed in their operating positing. “And when night falls, their beams pierce the sky - the electric eyes of the earth folk in their battle with the air men...“ Night shot of one of the lamps lighting up. Night shot of a whole line of the lamps lit up. Men at work operating the “sound locator“, the instrument with which enemy planes are first detected.
