Johnny Otis (1921-2012) was one of the key figures in the development of rhythm & blues and rock’n’roll music. He excelled as a singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, talent scout, disc jockey, producer, author, minister and assemblyman. He hosted a half-hour television program on Los Angeles’ KTLA Channel 5 sponsored by Metropolitan Ford.
