IPCP - Becoming an Infantry Platoon Commander in the Canadian Army

Following Basic Training in St. Jean sur Richelieu, the next three phases of training for an Infantry Officer take place in Gagetown, New Brunswick. In August 2020, with the uncertain times surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, a new pilot course was put into motion to streamline my next 3 phases into a single modernized program with mentorship, lethality, and tactics at its focus. This is the Infantry Platoon Commander Programme. 127 candidates would be loaded onto it. Around 60 would graduate. This video is shows some of the highlights of this course, but in reality only shows maybe 20% of what we experienced. The most memorable, exhausting, and intense moments were never filmed obviously. It was an exciting challenge to document this journey, not knowing how I would do, and knowing it would involve editing at least a year’s worth of footage into a product appropriate for publishing on the internet.
