Led Zeppelin - Early Version of “Whole Lotta Love“ (1969 - Exact Date Unknown)

As requested by Elizabeth Victoria, here is an early performance of Whole Lotta Love sometime in 1969. The exact date and location of this performance is unknown and up to considerable debate. Some believe it to be from the band’s show in Irvine, CA on May 1st (hence the thumbnail), while others believe it to be a previously unheard snippet from the band’s April 27th show in San Francisco. Alternatively, it could be a completely different date altogether. This early version is a fascinating listen, as the refrain (and song title) are “you need love“, and it features an extended mostly acapella solo from Jimmy that would be absent in later versions. Unfortunately, this snippet is all that circulates, and even then, the song itself is cut, with the ending in particular missing. Despite how brief it is, this is quite an interesting listen for sure. Special thanks to Mysterii for the thumbnail! 0:00 Intro 0:44 Whole Lotta Love (cut) Bootleg: unknown lineage
