S-Wave : First Notes from a 3D Printed Silent Ukulele Design

Introduction to my latest ukulele design. The first playable prototype came together faster than I expected even with a new neck design, new tenor-sized fretboard, zero fret nut, preamp mounts , and cable connector. Early playing and recording attempts highlight how little experience I have with electric stringed instrutments. As with all designs, I have some adjustments to make. I need to redesign how the cable connector is installed and where I put the carbon fiber reinforcing rod. The S-Wave is a silent acoustic electric 3D printed ukulele inspired by some of the silent basses, guitars, and violins I’ve seen. Working toward a more standard tenor-sized very modular ukulele that uses relatively inexpensive parts.
