Old Master Portrait Master Copy

In this video I make an oil study of a Velazquez portrait I recently had an opportunity to see at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Diego Velazquez (1599-1660) made this portrait of Camillo Astalli while he was visiting Rome in 1650. For this painting I used 9x12“ Canson oil paper, Linseed oil, Titanium white, Cad Yellow light, Yellow ochre, Burnt Sienna, Cad Red light, Alizarin crimson, Raw umber, Ivory black.
