Spitfires & Hurricanes - Salute to ’The Few’ of the Battle of Britain 1940

The grand finale at the Headcorn Battle of Britain Airshow 2022, was this display by four Supermarine Spitfires and three Hawker Hurricanes, in a salute to ’The Few’ - the brave British, colonial and pilots from many European and other countries, such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the USA (unofficially), who successfully defended the United Kingdom between May and October 1940, from the swarming hordes of German Luftwaffe Bombers and Fighters which were intent upon defeating the Royal Air Force in order to gain superiority in the air in advance of a planned sea and land invasion by German military forces. Because the German Luftwaffe were repelled and unable to defeat the Royal Air Force, the planned German invasion of Britain never happened. The aircraft are:- 1/.
