The model is based on a 1/65 scale kit from Amati. Since Amati ship model kit designs are often simplified for easier assembly, there are certain elements that I will significantly modify or correct. As I construct this model, I will demonstrate how I make these modifications to enhance the accuracy of the final product. To achieve the highest level of historical accuracy, I am using various sources such as ship modeling materials, online resources, and the book “The Ships of Christopher Columbus.
