NUFAN? First Time Hearing NO USE FOR A NAME! Bass Teacher REACTS to “Friends of the Enemy“
FULL-ALBUM Reactions, Lessons & More 👉

➡️ It’s not often you hear me call punk rock bass lines “beautiful“, but the way bassist Matt Riddle kicked off No Use For A Name’s track “Friends of the Enemy“ was ! This song is a classic example of how effective a melodic bass intro can be in tying a composition together, especially when it references some of the vocal melodies that happen later in the song. Despite its catchiness, it’s a slightly tricky riff and I really enjoyed breaking it down. I also discuss the rhythmic phrasings of the vocal melody, precisely how the bass intro pulled from it, a music theory breakdown of the chord progressions, the “fake out“ key change in the bridge, and much more! I’ll start calling them “NUFAN“ now...😉
