Одним из весьма популярных представителей этого класса является Yamaha XT 660X увидевшая свет в 2004г,это — конструктивно простой мотоцикл, построенный с применением проверенных технических решений. Он имеет много общего с эндуро Yamaha XT660R, отличаясь от него колёсами,вилкой, подвесками и тормозами. Мотардов этой кубатуры не очень-то и много на вторичном рынке — навскидку из конкурентов приходит на ум разве что Honda FMX 650. Правда, в отличие от конкурента от «Хонды», продержавшегося на конвейере всего пару лет и не завоевавшего популярности из-за своей архаичности, XT 660X выпускался целых 10 лет до 2014г. Мотоцикл, надо признать, получился удачный во всех отношениях — с хорошим мотором, цепкими тормозами и отличной ходовой. В качестве двигателя для Yamaha XT 660X японцы используют многим уже известны 659-кубовый мотор Minarelli, выдающий 48 л.с. и почти 60 Нм крутящего момента. Мотор отлично себя чувствует на средних оборотах, но и с низов тянет очень уверенно, резво стартуя со светофоров. Более того, он оказался настолько удачным, что было принято решение ставить его же и на другую, более современную модель — Yamaha MT-03. В результате по динамике XT 660X вполне способен поспорить с аналогичными по кубатуре «европейцами» от Husqvarna и KTM.
