California Dreamin’ (live at Monterey) - The Mamas & The Papas (Michelle Phillips voice added)

California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & The Papas performed at the first Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. This is the only completely live performance of this song that’s available, and unfortunately Michelle’s microphone was not working due to The Who destroying the equipment before they went on stage. There was no playback speaker so Michelle did not notice until halfway through the show, which is why she does not just move over to Cass’s mic. (Michelle herself stated in an interview that she didn’t notice until halfway through their set, but if you look at around 0:47, it really looks like she is trying to tell someone that her mic doesn’t work) To give an idea of what it would’ve sounded like if Michelle’s mic was working, I’ve taken the left side audio and inserted it into the Monterey performance.
