Ukrainian President Zelensky Meets British PM Johnson in Kyiv

▶️ British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Kyiv, Ukraine, Tuesday, Feb. 1, amid heightened tensions with Russia. 👉Ahead of his arrival Johnson posted on Twitter “As a friend and a democratic partner, the UK will continue to uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty in the face of those who seek to destroy it.” Earlier Tuesday Zelenskiy signed a decree to boost Ukraine’s armed forces by 100,000 troops over three years, telling lawmakers he ordered the increase “not because we will soon have a war... but so that soon and in the future, there will be peace in Ukraine“. Russia has massed more than 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders but denies any plans to invade its neighbor. (REUTERS)
