A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-U) from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, on 25 June 2024, at 21:26 UTC (17:26 EDT). Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side boosters (B1072 and B1086) landed at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Due to mission requirements, the core booster (B1087) was not planned to be recovered. According to NASA, “the total cost for NASA to launch GOES-U is approximately $152.5 million, which includes the launch service and other mission-related costs”.
