Little Bear G3 Valve Overdrive

The Little Bear G3 Valve Overdrive is the refined (and boxed) older brother of the G1 model. It’s still very inexpensive, but now comes in a sturdy metal case that you won’t be afraid to take on stage with you. The circuit seems very similar to the G1 but is reigned in slightly, stopping short of the “amp on fire“ settings but giving a much more stable range of drive across all settings. Like the G1, the G3 comes stock with a Chinese 6n4 valve, which while being suitably angry, does suffer from a slightly congested midrange, luckily, as is the case with the G1, you can easily swap this out for a 12AX7 or similar, which opens up the sound nicely. Gear used: Fender MIM Strat (Seymour Duncan JB Jr in the bridge, Lace Sensor Blue in the neck, Middle is stock), into the G1, into a Laney VC30 2x12, mic’d with a SE Electronics R1.
