In our version we use the beginning of the 8 diagram pole set.. Lau Family pole Lau Gar gwan - known as “Lau Soei Gwaan“ Grandmaster Lam Jo adapted the Gwaan set from Southern Praying Mantis it was a set made famous by the great master Lau Soei Grandmaster Lam Jo “adapted“ it, when he was young and named it after Lau Soi. Lam Jo already knew good polesmanship[ from LSW 8 Trigram/ 6.5 Pole Lau Soei (1866–1942; was a Hakka who established a reputation as a martial artist during the turn of the century in Southern China and later as a martial arts teacher in Hong Kong. Lau Soei was also known as the tiger of Dong Jian . His signature techniques include the “Chaujia-Tanglang-Sanjian“?
