Silver Exhibition (1956)

M/S in semidarkness of a silver model of The Latham Centrepiece, a moment in the history of the Royal East Kent Regiment (the Buffs); the model is then illuminated. C/U of the top of the model showing a man on horseback with a flag in one hand and a sword raised in the other to strike Ensign Latham, who also holds onto the flag and has had one arm severed in this, the battle of Albuhera in Spain, 1811. Extreme C/U of the horseman, panning right to show Latham. Commentator tells us the pieces seen at this exhibition at the Royal Academy in London are on loan from Officers’ Messes, to raise funds for the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association. M/S of a model of a golden Portuguese Galleon; C/U of the intricate work of the the sails and flags (this is on loan from HMS Dolphin).
