My first completely blind reaction! This was incredibly fun, and I had no idea what to expect. This week’s video comes by request to check out “No God“ by Band-Maid, a Japanese rock band with a really fun maid imagery modeled on Japanese maid cafés. Their bass player, Misa, has BLOWN MY MIND with her masterful use of multiple techniques in the song - she even slaps and pops while somehow holding a pick! In this video I dissect how this technique is executed, her efficient usage of sliding octaves (and how they drive the song), lead-bass playing, and a bit of a look at the songs composition and key modulations. Band-Maid have earned another fan!
