Holding Absence - The Angel In The Marble

The Angel In The Marble by @holdingabsence From the album ’The Noble Art of Self Destruction’, out now. Stream/Purchase: Produced by Dan Weller Mixed by Sam Guaiana Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound Post-sacrifice, I am stemming the blood flow. Hammer in hand; desperate to grow. In order to evolve, I made a chopping block a home and I gouged away at myself until I hit a bone. I’m chiselling until there’s nothing left. Nobody could hurt me the way that I’ve hurt myself. I’m breaking myself down to dust again. Trying my best to make a masterpiece in the end. There’s an angel in the marble that I’m trying to set free. Chopping and hacking to get to the best parts of me. Destroy to create; who would have known? There’s a sacrifice for growth. Fill me with wax, and then colour me gold. Look at my scars. They’re beautiful. They held me together when I wanted to let go. I’m a kintsugi sculpture and I need it to be known. I’m chiselling until there’s nothing left. Nobody could hurt me the way that I’ve hurt myself. I’m breaking myself down to dust again. Trying my best to make a masterpiece in the end. There’s an angel in the marble that I’m trying to set free Chopping and hacking to get to the best parts of me Destroy to create; who would have known? There’s a sacrifice for growth. I am a puzzle I am a painting I am a work of Art in the making. Trust in your hand and Trust in the process. I am a work of Art in the progress. I learned from my flaws and I Cut myself open. Glued myself better. Golden; unbroken. Now all I have left is A handful of hope and A thousand laments That I can’t leave unspoken. The noble art of self-destruction guiding my hand, I’ll merge the man that I was hoping I could be with the man that I know that I am. The noble art of self-destruction guiding my hand. I am a puzzle, I am a painting. I am a work of art in the making.
