Ani, Armenian City of 1001 Churches

The lost city of Ani contains the ruins of Armenian cathedrals, churches, mosques and zoroastrian temples. Now in Eastern Turkey, this UNESCO World Heritage Site lies on the border with Armenia. Adventurer Jeremy Curl visited the site in 2016, filming the drone footage you see in this video. Jeremy left Mount Ararat by horse guided by Kurdish shepherds travelling northwards across rough terrain, reaching the city inside 5 days. Despite its bloody history, Ani has a serene and mysterious aura. Learn more
