The ultimate display of determination! Ft. John Akhwari

Marathon Runner John Akhwari fell hard to the ground early in the race, dislocating a knee and severely hurting a shoulder. The 26-year-old hailing from farming stock in Tanzania was forced to walk for long stretches. As night fell and the course was plunged into darkness, Akhwari pushed through the pain. The winner Mamo Wolde had crossed the finish line one hour and five minutes earlier. By the time Akhwari approached the stadium, the medals had been awarded. He was determined to finish the race.
