What is the Nazarite Vow?

The vow of Nazir is a unique part of the Torah described in Numbers 6. Nazir literally means sequestering, separating, or consecrating. The person taking the vow is sequestering themselves from cutting the hair of his head, consuming grapes and grape products, consuming alcoholic beverages and vinegar produced from them, and from nearing the dead.
