Xavier de Maistre - Leyenda (Asturias)

Xavier de Maistre performs Leyenda (Asturias) by Isaac Albéniz. Taken from his album “Serenata Española“ with the Flamenco legend & castanets soloist Lucero Tena. ► You can get your copy here: “Few countries have such a rich and varied musical tradition as Spain, a country where many different cultures have left their mark over the centuries. I myself had already played various Spanish pieces in the concert hall when in 2010 I first released an album – “Aranjuez“ – devoted to Spanish music. Over the years I have come across many more works that I was determined to play. Dominated, as it is, by the guitar, Spanish music lends itself in particular to transcriptions for the harp. “Asturias”, or often just named “Leyenda” is a piece composed by Isaac Albéniz who quickly became “the father of modern Spanish music”, integrating the melodies and rhythms of Spanish folk music into piano writing. “Leyenda“ is often described as “pure Andalusian flamenco“.“ - Xavier de Maistre ► Website: ► Facebook: © 2017 Sony Classical/ Sony Music Entertainment Sony Classical Youtube: Sony Classical Facebook
