Maksim Mrvica: one of the fastest pianists in the world
The Croatian pianist Maksim Mrvica once played the “Flight of the Bumblebee“ by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in just 56 seconds. Maksim Mrvica became known as one of the fastest pianists in the world. But he’s not only fast. Mrvica‘s crossover interpretations of classical and popular melodies are full of character and power. With more than four million albums sold, he is also one of the most successful pianists in the world.
Maksim Mrvica comes from Šibenik in Croatia. At the age of eight, he discovered the piano at a friend’s house and fell in love with it and with classical music. When he was 15, war broke out in Croatia, which was then part of Yugoslavia. During that period, he developed an even stronger connection to music and the piano. His music school was shut down, but he continued to have lessons in a basement.
