Van Straten And His Orchestra (1940)

Titles read: “Over Now To VAN STRATEN AND HIS ORCHESTRA“. London, probably Pathe Studio. Various shots of Van Straten and His Orchestra playing ’I’ll Send You My Love Letter’. A girl singer appears and sings the lyrics. Superimposed over shots of the band we see someone writing a love letter, (“My darling, I am so very lonely here without you“) supposedly to a man in the wartime services; the man’s empty armchair; a hand touches a picture frame. Strangely, there are no C/Us of the girl singer - from the L/S distance we see her in it is possible she is wearing glasses - could this be why? Note: Van Straten’s Orchestra / Band was also known as his Piccadilly Dance Band. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
