Before Longstreet launched his East Tennessee Campaign, Burnside captured the region in September 1863. Two of his objectives was the Cumberland Gap and Knoxville. Braxton Bragg dispatched Longstreet to East Tennessee in November. Longstreet would fight a series of small engagements around the region with various Union commanders, including Ambrose Burnside, John G. Foster, and John M. Schofield. Those battles included the battles of Fort Sanders, Bean’s Station, Dandridge, Mossy Creek, Jonesville, and Wyerman’s Mill. #AmericanCivilWar #EastTennessee #Appalachia #animatedbattlemap #Virginia #LeeCounty #CivilWar #EastTennesseeCampaign #tennessee #Chickamauga160 #civilwar #Georgia #Battlefield #Confederate #Union #Confederacy #UnitedStates #military #militaryhistory #Battles #History #HistoryGoneWilder #HaveHistoryWillTravel #Historynerd #Historygeek #HistoryCritique #historymemes #historyinthemaking #historynerd #historychannel #historybuff #historylover #historylesson #historyfacts #historygeek #historyinpictures #historymaker #historylovers #historyteacher #historymakers #historymeme #historytour #historymade #historytv18 #historymuseum #Historymatters
